Somos (we are)
We wanted to start one blog with several writers but with commonality, but also not really. We’re all from Chicago and all Latinos, but among these similarities there are tremendous differences.
I’m Carlos Jimenez, I just finished my B.A. in Communication and I’m going for a M.A./Ph.D. in Film Studies at University of California Santa Barbara, I move in four days!
Sandra Rodela, just finished her B.A. in English from DePaul University and will start applying for jobs tomorrow. Her younger sister also just had a baby.
Monica Avina, just finished her M.A. from DePaul in Women Studies. She is currently working on getting a nonprofit off the ground and planning to take the LSAT.
Jacqueline Lyon, is at DePaul University finishing her B.A. in Poli. sci. and Latino Studies. She is applying to grad school
Christian Mejia, is a film student at Colombia College. He’s finishing up his degree and in the process he plans to court Lourdes Portillo for a spot on her up coming House on Mango film in Chicago.
I still have to tell Monica she has a blog. :)
